Finally remembered what’s missing in my life…
Fighting!
I kicboxed as a young ‘un, boxed in the army, did Krav Maga in Australia and at the second tilt I’m drifting back into MMA. I started training again about a year ago and let it slip in criminal fashion. With my impending move south – to the rat’s nest they call London – I will need to find something to get me through my political sabbatical.
I attended a submission grappling session in Leeds and while sore (no warmup) I am happy to have moved a little, and despite being choked out about five times in a row I managed to tap someone with an armbar from the guard (see above, though not as good…).
Hopefully it will help to burn some of that excess energy, stop me choking out my editor and keep me from launching flying knees into various figures on the British Left.
I remain a man of peace, but there is nothing like a bit of cage-fighting. My suggestion is that any world leader who wants to start a war must fight their opponent under full pro MMA rules instead.
Cameron Versus Mullah Omar.
Obama Versus Assad.
Sadly, Bush Versus Bin Laden will never happen. though I suspect Bin Laden’s reach would’ve proved decisive.
